Parents pulls kids from school over yoga -- more than just a JW hangup?
by I Want to Believe inhttp://news.yahoo.com/parents-considering-legal-action-over-school-yoga-181449315.html.
and yes, jws do get name dropped in the source article as one of the two families who actually pull their kids, but it says "dozens" are upset about the "religeous practices" of yoga:.

Strategically, the GB should accept 587
by I Want to Believe inright now, the 587/607 is a major weak link; doctrines can be argued in circles for days, but the overwhelming evidence for 587 is damning to their entire theology, and it can be found with very little effort.
however, if they just bite the bullet and "new light" a 587 date for jerusalem's destruction it solves a lot of their problems:.
-removes their main weak secular point of argument.

Troy Barnes should be Disfellowshipped
by I Want to Believe inanyone else watch community?
i love the show, and it just happens to have the only openly jw lead character in the history of tv.
but whenever they'd bring up that troy was a jw i'd cringe a little, back then because how easily he would go against those beliefs and now because of how innocent they make it out to be.

I don't like "taking the lead"
by I Want to Believe insome men probably got off on the power/ego trip being a male jw gets you, but i never cared for it.
i'm an introvert, and was an especially awkward one at that haveing been reaised in social isolation, so it was about the strangest feeling in the world when as a newly-baptized teenager (back in the day) i started to pioneer.
i was about as green as you could get in every way but i was told i had to take the lead in the service meetings and the car group.

An open apology

it's kind of a step in my recovery.. .
i have to say i'm sorry to anyone i've hurt in my life because of my upbringing.

I still feel the same, now with uncertainty
by I Want to Believe inso i bought a "first bible" for my 2 year old.
it has about a dozen hard pages so they can't be torn, has colorful illustrations and touches on the basic stories of noah, david, jesus, etc.
but without the wtb&ts spin (or graphic depictions of the wicked drowning, etc.).

My critical thoughts about Paul
by I Want to Believe inso this is an area of thought i had before even before i fully took the apostate plunge.
i started noticing that almost everything about the congregation pointed back to paul.. "do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together.
" not jesus' words.

Another day, another apostate. Here's my story.
by I Want to Believe inbeen lurking for a bit, and feel safe enough now to tell my story (condensed).. i'm a third-generation born-in, but my parents were inactive for most of my upbringing.
this means i got the worst of both worlds--no worldly friends (home schooled all but grades 2-3), no witness friends (since we never went to the hall except for memorial), and a generally isolated upbringing in a tiny, tiny town.
needless to say, my emotional, social, and personal growth were stunted.
